Top 10 Current Fastest Bowlers in the World of Cricket
12.
Mohammed Irfan(Pakistan)
Confusion remains over Mohammad Irfan's actual height - the
PCB has variously measured him at 6'8", 6'10" and 7'1". If he is
indeed 7'1", he could be the tallest cricketer around, surpassing his idol
Joel Garner. Irfan is a product of rural Pakistan, hailing from the eastern
Pakistan town of Gaggu Mandi, which produced another tall former Pakistan
quick, Mohammad Zahid. The lack of opportunities in his home town forced him to
quit playing cricket and seek full-time employment to support his family. He
was working in a plastic pipe factory and playing club cricket before Aaqib
Javed had summoned him to the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
Irafan can bowl at a speed of higher 140's. His fastest ever
ball was 150.6KMPH.

11. Peter Siddle(Australia)
With a charging run-up, powerful delivery, worrying bounce
and elongated appeal, Peter Siddle has been a reassuringly consistent presence
in Australia's Test attack since 2008. A hard-working, hostile fast bowler who
has not always been viewed as the epitome of subtlety, Siddle has been used as
an enforcer, a workhorse and at times as the spearhead of Australia's bowling
group. But he is also a man of contradictions, a tough rural Victorian who was
a competitive woodchopper in his youth, yet since 2012 a vegan whose diet can
consist of 15 to 20 bananas a day. Such a diet would hardly have appealed to
Merv Hughes, a fellow Victorian who filled a similar role in Australia's team
in the 1980s and 90s and, like Siddle since 2010, was largely considered a
Test-match specialist.
Important member of Australian pace battery
Siddle is the 11th in
our list. He can bowl 145 KMPH on consistent basis. His fastest ball recorded
151 kph.
Fastest Ball – 151 kph

10.
Umesh Yadav(India)
Less than two seasons
after fast bowler Umesh Yadav first played with a leather ball, he was bowling
against the likes of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman in the Duleep Trophy. What
makes his ascent even more remarkable is that he represents unglamorous Vidarbha
in the Plate League of the Ranji Trophy. Yadav is the son of a coal-mine worker
and was aiming to become a policeman. He only started considering a career in
cricket as a 19-year-old, an age by which the best young Indian cricketers are
in the running for a national cap.
As a fast bowler, he has
many skills: he regularly bowls at over 140kph, moves the ball both ways, and
has a pretty effective bouncer. These qualities helped him take 20 wickets at
14.60 in four games for Vidarbha in his debut season in 2008-09. While he made
waves in the domestic scene, Umesh really caught the eye during IPL 2010, where
he impressed a much wider audience with his pace for Delhi Daredevils. He
finally broke into the big league, when he was flown to the West Indies as a
replacement for the injured Praveen Kumar during the World Twenty20 tournament
in May 2010, and earned his first call-up to the India Test team for the tour
of South Africa in November the same year. He made the Test playing XI for the
first time against West Indies in Delhi in November 2011, and picked up nine
wickets in his first two Tests, which in turn earned him a place for the
Australia tour.

style being nicknamed "Malinga the Slinga" both terms still
consistently being associated with him in street cricket and general cricketing
society. He is well known for his ability to take consecutive wickets: he
is the first and only bowler in the world to have two World Cup hat-tricks, the

first, and currently the only, player to have taken four wickets in four
consecutive balls in any form of international cricket. On 22 April 2011,
he announced his retirement from Test cricket. He bowls around a speed of 140 km/h (87 mph). His

Fastest
Ball – 156.7 kph
When
Johnson attended a fast-bowling clinic in Brisbane at age 17, former Test
fast-bowler Dennis Lillee identified him as a
"once-in-nine-lives prospect". Lillee contacted former team
mate Rod Marsh and arranged for Johnson to join the Australian Cricket
Academy in Adelaide.
Johnson subsequently played for the Australian Under-19 side
that toured England in 1999, however recurrent back injuries hampered his
prospects. He recovered to start his first-class career two years later, when
he was selected to play state cricket for his native Queensland.
Playing for Queensland against New Zealand, Johnson hit a six off the first
ball he faced in first-class cricket. In September 2005, he was in the Australia

1.
Fidel Edwards(West Indies)
His round-arm action greatly resembles that of former fast
bowler Jeff Thomson. He was spotted in the nets by Brian
Lara and was called up for his Test debut
against Sri Lanka after just one match for Barbados.
Discussing his round-arm bowling action in 2004, Edwards
remarked "I never copied anyone, its just natural. People feel it's a very
difficult action but its like riding a bicycle. And the main advantage I get
bowling in that fashion is I can swing the ball more, especially the old one.
Yes, at times the swing is too wide and a few more extras are added, but I am
coping with that." His bowling speed is around the late 80s and early
90s mph. His fastest was clocked at 157.7kph in 2003, which is still the fastest
amongst active bowlers as of 3 January, 2015.
